Mohamed Salah Offers Regret to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the group of players after the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match after making accusations and stating his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the team's response remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
He also implied that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Their results have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. Jones believes the forward's comments were never meant to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and securing victories.”
