Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent action-packed instalment that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating violence and madness with equal glee, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed tales. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose work have embodied all of those things.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by having a fresh location and ensemble in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant trust and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the core of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our common bold, daring approach to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
